Special Issue "Usability and Aesthetics"

Interaction, concept, function, and usability are the 101 of professional usability engineering. But what about the visual aspect in combination with these basic elements? A special issue of the i-com, a magazine for interactive and cooperative media, shows you the expanded 101 by raising the awareness for the aesthetic quality of a user interface.
The objective of this special issue is a reflexive examination of the topic "Usability and Aesthetics" – on different levels: The visual design of the issue wants to make user interfaces perceivable in a new way, presenting screen elements in a new context and exploring the effects of different visual design approaches to show amazing perspectives.
The special issue answers the questions on the interplay between usability and beauty in a scientifically founded way. The editors search for answers in the design practice: How can interactive products be designed beautifully? What are successful examples?
Experience user interfaces in a different way. You can be anxious to get experimental insights and sound outlooks. The editors of the special issue:
